Having an ant infestation in your kitchen can be frustrating, particularly if you notice their numbers growing over time. In some cases, you may also notice them doing more and more damage to your food, and in some cases making it inedible. In this position, you could come up with a plan to get rid of the ants effectively and in such a manner that you will not have to deal with the same problem again.
Most people simply use an insecticide to kill the ants and then leave it at that, but this rarely protects the kitchen from a repeat invasion. For a more thorough extermination, several steps may be involved. For one, you can use an organic product such as EcoVenger® to get rid of the ants. This is only toxic to the ants, so other household members such as pets and children will not be adversely affected by it.
Once this is done, you may need to rethink the manner in which you store your food to make it more inaccessible to the ants. For instance, rather than keeping bread in a simple bread basket, you could get one that is lockable and does not have any point where an ant can go through.
To prevent future invasions, you can also consider sealing the ants’ entry points using caulk, as well as damaging the ants’ nest using boiling water. To do this, you only need to boil water in a kettle and pour it directly over the ant nest. If you can’t identify the nest, you could seek the services of a pest control expert to help you find it.
